I’ve been absent for the last year whilst I launched and developed my Social Media business Pineapple White Media and now its time to make a comeback to the CotswoldCreate blog!
For those of you that missed me ‘hello old friends’ and for those reading for the first time, hello and thank you for dropping by.
For those who hadn’t noticed, well whatevs 🤪
For my return to the blog I thought it apt to share with you some pictures from our recent days out on our ‘very own Railway’ in Broadway Village, a railway extension which has seen the ‘Return to Broadway’ of a Steam train service for the first time in 58 years.
It’s been a momentous and proud time for our Village and personally, both as shareholders in the project and as parents to a train crazy toddler, it has been a joy to be a part of.
The delight of the Steam train arriving and departing from the beautiful restored Railway is rewarding and really quite emotional. We look forward to supporting the Railway and being a part of its success for years to come.
Richard Johnson, the voluntary chairman of GWSR Plc said:
This was the pinnacle of achievement for everyone who has played a part in making the dream of reaching Broadway again, a reality. These two days have been a way to enjoy the fruits of all this hard work and being among the first to travel by train to Broadway after a gap of more than 58 years.
“Connecting Broadway with Cheltenham by rail again was the vision of those early pioneers who first took over a derelict Toddington station in 1982. That was three years after British Railways had lifted the track and removed the infrastructure of the main line that once ran between Stratford upon Avon and Cheltenham.
Broadway station, along with most other stations on the line, had closed way back in March 1960.
We look forward to showing you many more of our train adventures very soon.
