If asked what would be on my top ten list of things in this world, anyone that knows me well would include these two things;
GIN & FLOWERS (in no particular order)
Combine the two and I’m a happier lady than most.. so when I discovered that High-end floristry business Elitonia Ltd has brought the extraordinary worlds of Steampunk and The Cotswolds together in a heady mix under the roof of The Cotswolds Distillery, well..what do you think went through my mind…?
Elitonia’s unique concept – ‘The Gin Maid’ – celebrates an amazing floral photoshoot at Cotswolds Distillery, and Elitonia is featured in Cotswold Life’s latest (June 2017) issue.
At the head of the team is Managing Director, Toni Ryder, who has more than 30-years experience in delivering high-end projects and events and knows how to deliver to the precise standards that are required from their clients.
Toni Ryder, Elitonia’s New York-born Managing Director, says:
‘I was inspired to mix flowers and Steampunk by seeing the copper Gin Stills at the distillery.
‘The rich colours of the stills, the complementary flowers we use and our model Ash Millman’s beautiful red hair, all combine to emphasise the exceptional quality of our respective offerings and products’.
Toni teamed up with top Cotswolds-based photographer Chris Boulton to create ‘The Gin Maid’ series of photographs, capturing Elitonia’s breath-taking floral creations.
The Steampunk theme
Steampunk takes on many artistic variations, however, the background story for this shoot involved Steampunk in the concept of time travel. People who lived during the Gin Craze (18th century) were thought to have some sort of crystal ball / time-travel devise to tell them what people would be doing in the future, i.e. drinking Gin. Both the owner of Elitonia and the owner of Cotswolds Distillery come from New York and both travelled the the UK and this tied in with the time travel/Steampunk theme. The copper gin stills were a perfect match for this theme.
The distillery provided an arresting backdrop for ‘The Gin Maid’. Its whisky barrels, primed for the official launch of its ‘Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky’ this October, served to enhance the overall Steampunk theme.
‘We’re always happy to celebrate Quality’,
says Cotswolds Distillery’s CEO Dan Szor.
The Cotswolds Distillery was founded in 2014 to create the first Single Malt Whisky distilled in the Cotswolds AONB.
Made from local barley and due for release in the autumn, it has already attracted critical acclaim as a ‘single malt spirit’ – so the future looks promising and exciting for this iconic product from the heart of the Cotswolds. Since 2014 the distillery has become widely recognised and praised for their award-winning Cotswolds Dry Gin.

And the last word goes to Toni, Managing Director of Elitonia
‘It’s all about the Art of Floristry.
We’re catering for those who want something different – you’re only limited by your imagination’.
Have a lovely evening, my Gin is calling me ..well it is almost 6pm, and it’s the witching hour around here!
