Sometimes I venture outside of the Cotswolds on my blog and today I am doing just so. My friend Mimi Emmett needs shouting about. They can’t keep her all to themselves up in Norfolk, it’s just not fair and anyway Mimi lives in my second home, just outside of Burnham Market on the North Norfolk Coast so really what’s part of me is part of CotswoldCreate!
Mimi’s business – Mimi Emmett, England is a stunning collection of homeware inspired by the North Norfolk Coastline, beautiful country houses, and the unmistakable flora and fauna of the British Countryside.
With the aim of appealing to both the classic and contemporary audiences, the current range spans from British game, to tropical fruits, and works just as well in a city apartment as it does in a cosy country retreat.
Mimi studied Textile Design at The University of Leeds and at Norwich University of the Arts, where she specialised in illustration and digital design, graduating in July 2014.
She has exhibited work at Premier Vision in Paris and in her final year, Mimi’s work was selected for the ‘New Designers’ 2014 showcase in Islington. In the same year she was chosen to exhibit her work at the ‘Dulux Design Service New Talent Show’.
Mimi herself is one of those for whom the term ‘Bright Young Thing’ was coined. She could become a household name, perhaps the next Cath Kidston or Emma Bridgewater.
As it was, with her distinctive use of colour and characterful drawing style, Mimi was snapped up by Hallmark soon after she finished her studies, working with them to create countless illustrations that were used for their premium range of greetings cards.
John Lewis were another major company that saw Mimi’s potential, and they currently stock a selection of her framed wildlife prints.
As Mimi’s print designs lend themselves to such a wide range of products, the company are currently undergoing an exciting period of expansion, with an ambitious schedule of show appearances planned for 2017, as well as the full range now available for order on the website through the online shop.
We love these Pineapples (of course we do) and the very lovely Bee print too!
It was important to Mimi from the very start that Mimi Emmett, England was a brand designed and made in the UK. The company prides itself on working with reliable, ethical manufacturers who have a combined total of hundreds of years of experience to bring you environmentally friendly products that subscribe to the highest level of welfare standards.
They also try their very best to reduce their carbon footprint, having sourced local suppliers, and are committed to doing business in the right way, creating fine products of the highest quality.
