In October I’m delighted to say that I am heading off for the whole day (baby free) to take part in an interior design workshop at the beautiful Barn at Upcote
The Workshop run by the award winning Cotswold based Interior Designer Lauren Gilberthorpe is planned as a fun and relaxed design masterclass where Lauren will share her insider knowledge, decorating secrets, and tips and tricks of the trade that will enable you to create stylish spaces overflowing with personality. The aim is that you can take away heaps of inspiration, pick Lauren’s brains and discover all you need to know to create your dream home. I am so excited to be involved in an event where I will learn new skills, meet new people and have great fun in the beautiful surroundings of the Cotswold countryside.
When: 1st October 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: The Barn at Upcote, Withington, Gloucs, GL54 4BL[supsystic-gallery id=14 position=center]
”With almost a decade of experience in interiors, Lauren brings an eclectic eye for design and a knack for combining colour and pattern. By mixing touches of vintage and antique with the modern, Lauren’s designs are always interesting and balanced, whilst never losing touch of the clients individual style and personality. She remains true to her design philosophy that “great design should be effortlessly functional and comfortable whilst bringing a smile to your face”
It sounds like Lauren has a jam-packed day planned for us and has asked me to….come prepared! During the day we will be working through the different stages of a design project, from initial floor plans through to the final styling. To enable us to get the most out of the day, I have been asked to come with a room of mine in mind to re-design. Along with this measurements of the room (including placement of doors, windows and fireplaces etc)
Lauren has said not to worry about drawing it to scale, as we’ll be covering that during the workshop..phew..otherwise I detect what could have signalled a slight cringe moment…I just need to make sure I’ve got the measurements roughly sketched out on a piece of paper!
I also need to take Photographs of the room from all angles, including plug sockets and ceiling lights.. (These can be on my phone or iPad) and added to this the measurements of any furniture that I’d like in the room (eg: an existing sofa)
I think I have my work cut out for me, I cannot wait to see what skills I can pickup and what inspiration Lauren provides. The day kicks off promptly at 10am but there will be welcome tea and coffee so I’ll arrive earlier from 9:30 onwards and get myself ready for all of this….
