As something approaching Summer arrives in the Cotswolds so too is the realisation that the Cornbury Festival is almost upon us!!!
This is the weekend where ‘cool’ converges on our beautiful Cotswold Counties – and Oxfordshire welcomes families and all ages to celebrate Summer and the best that Music has to offer.
This year’s line up is no different .. featuring amongst many others the ultimate ‘cool’ man Sir Tom Jones as well as Razorlight…the CORNBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL (10-12 JULY 2015) is ‘The Musical Gold Standard of Family Festivals’
True legends, a heady dose of the blues, a touch of X factor, national treasures, guilty pleasures, a little bit of country and a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll – there truly is something for everyone at the year’s Cornbury Music Festival, the ultimate celebration of music and culture set in the heart of the Cotswolds at the glorious Great Tew Estate near Chipping Norton.
Welsh soulman Sir Tom Jones makes his Cornbury Music Festival debut this summer, joined by Supertramp founder, singer-songwriter Roger Hodgson, the ever-popular Lulu, poptastic Blue, award-winning R&B star Billy Ocean, Motown queen Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, indie rockers Razorlight and The Fratellis, and rockney legends Chas & Dave.
Other highlights on the bill include Martine McCutcheon and husband Jack McManus’s new pop rock combo Stargazer, American roots rock sisters Larkin Poe, X Factor’s Only The Young, Welsh folk duo Paper Aeroplanes and up-and-coming stars Jack Savoretti, Chastity Brown, The Harbour, and Raintown. The Festival will also be a big draw for country fans with appearances from the much lauded Nashville-based Striking Matches, whose music is an integral part of new US Country TV drama Nashville; as well as old and new country stars Hank Wangford, The Shires and Ward Thomas.
The great comedy line-up includes Joe Lycett, Katherine Ryan, Aisling Bea and James Acaster; with poetry from Dr John Cooper Clarke to Pam Ayres.
Festival goers can also enjoy head-to-toe healing and pampering in the Therapixie tent, a traditional funfair, an exclusive VIP area and beautiful campsites nestling in the estate’s rolling hills. As always, Cornbury Music Festival has a wide range of food stalls to suit all tastes and budgets, but for a taste of luxury visit The Bloody Oyster for the ultimate Bloody Mary and oysters anyway you like them, raw, cooked, even in a burger, and don’t miss the superb Cheese Truck celebrating all that is great about British cheese with signature grilled cheese sandwiches, goey fondue fries and intriguing stilton and dark chocolate brownies. The Cornbury Pimm’s bus is back this year along with the Fevertree Gin & Tonic bar, and make sure you try the lip-tingling Pops Champagne and Bellini iced popsicles.
The Festival is very much a family affair. The colourful, creative Kids’ Zone is right in the middle of the festival, in sight of the main stage, so families can drop in and out whilst seeing all the festival highlights; and, unlike other festivals, all activities are free and there is no need to book in advance, just turn up and join in. The wide mix of activities means there is something for all ages on the go all the time – activities to engage and inspire, whether for a few minutes between acts or for a whole afternoon. From Clay Modelling and Lantern Making to Circus Crafts and Bollywood Dancing.
Entrance for under-threes is free, with child tickets from £15 and quieter camping options at the same price as general camping tickets.
