The Kings Head Spa, Cirencester

On Tuesday I popped over to Cirencester to try out the new Spa at the equally newly refurbished Kings Head Hotel. I was booked in for a real treat in the form of the totally fabulous ‘Lubatti‘ full body treatment. There’s a total of 5 full body treatments to choose from and I am delighted I chose the one I did as it really was very good….More to follow below…

As I was there anyway it seemed a waste not to try out the other spa facilities on offer and so I dipped into the colourful and very cool colour changing hot tub, I sweated out some of the previous weekend’s over indulgence in the steam room and had a snooze in the ‘cow hide’ relaxation area. (more to follow on CotswoldCreate about that weekend!! )

The Kings Head Hotel is slap bang in the middle of the vibrant market town of Cirencester…

I love visiting Ciren, mainly because the sun always shines when I am there and I love the sight of it bouncing off the walls of the newly sand blasted Cathedral facade.

Now that there’s a stylishly done up Hotel and Spa then there’s even more reason to make the trip over, about an hour or so from Broadway..

As I mentioned, the Spa offers a snazzily decked out ‘cow hide’ style relaxation suite, very cosy and dimly lit for the ultimate sleep inspiring state or to unwind and read a mag. You may struggle to read much when the lights are down low but after your treatment you have a perfectly quiet space to relax with hot and cold refreshments or just pop in there too in between using the steam and sauna.

Now… I have to say that it wasn’t the most luxurious of Spa’s that I have visited and I felt that it had an air of being not quite finished or at least to the standard I was hoping for (I am however quite spoilt in this area and would like to think they are finding their feet at this early stage)  but….. where it lacked a polished finish it certainly made up for in other areas….

The Treatments...

Firstly the staff were extremely attentive and sweet and couldn’t do more to help, and after a rather unfortunate Fire alarm incident half way through my treatment they couldn’t have been more apologetic. Excellent customer service is  half the battle sometimes when things go wrong, even good customer service makes up for a lot so a big thumbs up to the girls at The Kings Head Spa who took the incident in their stride and as it happened it was a false alarm anyway! phew!!!

Secondly – my treatment was absolutely first class!

There’s plenty to choose from from the treatment menu at the SPA..whether its a massage you are looking for or perhaps a mother to be, hands and feet, facial or a men’s treatment …there’s something to suit all. To download the Spa treatment menu click here..

The treatment I had chosen was a signature treatment –  A Lubatti Full Body Experience and Signature Facial. Founded by Jo Malone’s sister, Tracey Malone, the Lubatti collections are inspired and developed using Madame Lubatti’s secret recipes, which date back as far as the 1920’s.

Signature scents include Tuberose & Mimosa, Bergamot & Grapefruit, Sweet Almond and Honey, which seek to evoke nostalgia of a simpler, bygone era.

Lubatti Pure Luxury Indulgence 80mins –  £90

The focus of this treatment is to completely relax and cleanse the body and mind – all the key areas of the body are treated. The Pure Luxury Indulgence starts with an eye and lip treatment, including Lubatti’s signature cleansing and toning facial routine. Using only the finest ingredients, the décolleté and hands are exfoliated with Lubatti’s Caramel Body Polish followed by a stress relieving back massage. The overall effect is that the body will feel completely revitalised.

Never having tried them before I found the the Lubatti range was gorgeous and I am sure I shall be making some purchases before to long from the range which has been adopted as The Spa’s house brand for treatments and products.

From the first moment to the last, Kelly did a fabulous job and has to be the only Masseuse I have ever had who has hit the spot on my long suffering shoulder and neck… and she kept finding it, I was very impressed and I would certainly recommend a visit just to experience this treatment alone.

My Mother joined me for the day and she had a an equally great treatment, choosing the Pristine Foot Massage and Pedicure Pristine Pedicure – 70mins | £60

“Like walking on air” is how you will feel after your Pristine Pedicure. Hard working feet need a special care when it comes to keeping them looking and feeling fabulous. This luxury treatment is fantastic for even the most neglected of feet and will be unrecognisable after they have been sloughed, buffed & bought back to life with the wonderful restorative benefits of this pedicure, completed with the advanced, high performance nail polish that provides a long lasting, chip resistant colour finish for your toes.

Using Leighton Denny products which have also been adopted throughout the spa for all manicure and pedicure treatments.

Leighton Denny is the namesake brand of one of the world’s leading top experts and internationally recognised beauty professionals. Leighton’s star-studded client list includes the likes of Kate Moss, Penelope Cruz and Adele. The manicure range is also an established cult favourite amongst beauty editors and professionals alike

When we were all ‘Spa’d out’ we were ready for a late lunch and before we left we grabbed a snack at the bar / restaurant upstairs.

Again, the service was excellent and the food was served fast and in large portions so we certainly got our money’s worth. We both opted for sandwiches which I washed down with a glass of excellent French Rosé whilst scribbling down some notes for CotwsoldCreate.
